RABBIT HEMORRHAGIC DISEASE IN ARIZONA

By April 23, 2020 September 29th, 2020 No Comments

This is a news release from the Arizona department of agriculture about a deadly disease affecting rabbits. This virus was previously considered a foreign animal disease with only rare cases in the US. However recently there have been outbreaks in both wild rabbits and domestic rabbits in New Mexico and northeastern Arizona.  This disease is almost always fatal and has very few symptoms before death.  There are suspected but no confirmed cases in our area. Please do not let your bunnies have any contact with wild rabbits and report any sudden death of multiple rabbits to the Arizona State veterinarian. (602) 316-3873
